When should I call Fiamingo Moving?
Advance planning is important to the success of your move, and advance notice is critical during the busy summer months. As soon as you know you are going to be moving, please call to schedule your in-home survey. Move dates should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance, but sooner is always better.
How long does an in-home survey take?
We will walk through your home and review the items you plan to move, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Usually this takes no more than an hour.
What are my responsibilities?
In brief…..
Be present during the packing, loading, and delivery of your belongings.
Take personal responsibility for jewelry and other high value items.
Check and sign the inventory of your belongings.
Ensure that no prohibited items are packed.
What actions by me may limit or reduce my mover’s normal liability?
You include perishable, dangerous, or hazardous materials in your household goods without your mover’s knowledge.
You choose carrier’s legal liability of $.60 per pound per article.
You fail to notify your mover in writing of articles valued at more than $100 per pound.
You fail to check off your inventory or take exceptions at delivery for shipments delivering to public storage.
You do not file a claim within the prescribed time frame.
What can’t I take with me?
Generally speaking, flammable items, liquids, perishable foods, and any items that can deteriorate should not be moved. Your customer service coordinator can provide you with a detailed list of items that should not go on the van.
Can I move my car?
Yes! Often, your vehicle can be moved in the van with the rest of your belongings. If this is not possible we will arrange for an alternate method. Note that we do not transport cars as part of a local move.
Suppose I would like to do my own packing?
You are welcome to do your own packing but please keep in mind that unless a carton shows exterior damage, packing liability rests with you and claims for damaged items will not be honored. You may want to consider packing non-fragile items, leaving fragile and high value items to be professionally packed.
How long will it take Fiamingo Moving to pack my goods?
Every home is different, but we normally pack a home in one to two days.
Can I leave my clothing in drawers?
If your shipment is going to storage, your drawers will need to be emptied and their contents packed in cartons. Otherwise, clothing may be left in drawers. Be sure to remove any items that can break or spill and all high value items.
